The Nutrition Position: Oral Systemic Health with Lisa Copeland, RDH
Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” ‘Food for thought’, does a healthy body start with a healthy diet? The answers will be revealed in this course.

Dental professionals are being faced with tremendous challenges when attempting to communicate a healthy smile being linked to a healthy body. The truth is Americans are spending more money on medicine but the results do not positively reflect the trend.

This course is intended to provide awareness for dental professionals about optimal nutrition and its impact on oral and systemic diseases. As dental professionals we have the opportunity to educate, advocate and encourage patients to implement healthy lifestyles relative to nutrition and oral health. By providing nutritional counseling during a dental appointment, we are expanding the scope of dental treatment beyond oral diseases.

Participants will reconnect with the evidence-based relationship of oral health and nutrition. Learning how this critical link affects the outcome of patient treatment strategies can lead to improved long-term overall health.
